Commuter Wars

So I have noticed recently that I seem to form rivals on my daily commute. Now these people have never done anything to insult me or anger me in any way, they just seem to be the people I notice every day on my journey to and from work! They are the people who get on my train (that's right, my train) and tend to sit in a similar place to me. 

Now because they do get on my train, my brain has decided they are my enemy, my rival! If I were Ash they would be my Gary (a Pokemon reference there that if you aren't between the ages of 20-25 you probably won't understand!) So every day I find us locking eyes at the platform as the train arrives knowing only one of us can sit in THAT seat and we must get to it as quickly but discretely as possible. This is one of the main rules in this duel, you cannot let on that you care despite the fact that at that moment there is nothing more important than getting to THAT seat!!! The winner will sit there and feel smug for the rest of their day while the loser will be forced to sit somewhere else and plan a better strategy for the morning!

Well that is my take on what happens on my commute and I personally find it a much more boring experience when your rival is not there... No one likes winning by default!!!

Pokemon, What Happened To You...

So after yesterday's post I found myself reminiscing about Pokemon and how great the original games were. This reminded me of an amusing Pokemon themed song I watched on Youtube, which anyone who played the original games will agree with almost immediately!

The Perfect Mix

First of all let me apologise for the lack of posting over the last few days but I was away for the weekend. However you will all be happy to hear I am back now... right?!

Anyway moving on, lately I have been talking a lot about TV shows so thought today I would look at something different and dip my toe into the casual gaming world. So while revising I took a quick break and popped over to One More Level to see what today's game was and what did I spot on the list of recent games, a new tower defence game, which are nearly always good fun. I know what you are thinking, "so what, just another tower defence game...", but this is a tower defence game with an old school twist! The twist.... it is Pokemon themed!

Now playing this brought back many fond memories of the hours I spent playing Pokemon Red back in the day! The game follows the rules of a regular tower defence game i.e. bad guys come from one end trying to get to the other to steal your prize possessions, which in this case are rare candies! The only difference being that the towers are Pokemon that you catch along your way, and the levels are the sections of the Pokemon story i.e. Level One is Prof. Oak's Lab.

This game is average as a tower defence game, but is certainly an enjoyable trip done memory lane if like me you played Pokemon when you were young and can be found here if you fancy giving it a go. Enjoy!
